Ο θύρσος στην Ελληνική μυθολογία ήταν τελετουργικό εξάρτημα του Διόνυσου και της συνοδείας του, των Μαινάδων, Σατύρων και άλλων. Είναι σύμβολο ευημερίας, γονιμότητας, ηδονισμού και τέρψης.
Ταξιδεύοντας στον μυθικό κόσμο του θεού Διονύσου, όπου οι ακόλουθοί του πραγματοποιούν λατρείες εις το όνομά του με εκστατικό χορό και μουσική.
Οι Σάτυροι παίζοντας κιθάρες και αυλούς,
οι Μαινάδες χορεύοντας εκστατικά,
άδοντας όλοι βακχικά.

The thyrsus, associated with Dionysus and his followers, the Satyrs and Maenads, is a symbol of prosperity, fertility, hedonism, and pleasure/enjoyment in general.
Traveling to the mythical world of god Dionysus, where his followers worship him with ecstatic dances and music.
The Satyrs playing Kitharas and Aulos,
the Maenads performing ecstatic dances,
singing all in bacchic manners.
